daughter of the sun & warren warm limbs brought the slender creature through the fog. she was headed for a land she could call her own. the sun was rising, some creatures began to sstir. she was an elegant thing, graceful and poised. her coat was a warm butterscotch with white waves brushing her neck and tickling her back legs. her nostrils flared, looking for the scents of others. horses weren't meant to be alone.
even though she wasn't.
a little one walked at her side, just as gracefully as his dam. his coat was a midnight black with gold brindle markings. he knew not much of his sire, but she knew far too much. his little hooves danced on the ground as the fog tickled his sides. every experience was new. every scent, every sight. he pricked his large cup ears to catch the sound of the forest waking.
tails swished as pesky flies began to whirl near their haunches. hers, long full and cream, and his, fluffy and streaked with gold. palominos, like herself, were all too common. he was the rarity of the couple. he managed to snag something from each gene pool.
her feelings were comples, like the two leggers she had seen in her youth. the walkers were new. well, the white walkers were. mustang country was slowly being taken over by the two legged. metal rods were being hammered into the ground and wooden caves were pulled up. an iron monster dwelled in one of those caves.
all the men saw were desert and valleys. the horses saw home.
her brown eyes rested on her captivated colt. would the mustang world still be there when he had a family of his own? or would they all become horses for the cavalry or for the people who were travelling out here to settle. a soft sigh escaped her lips but the young one didn't notice.
the fog sparkeld with orange as the darkness was taken over. the misty substance disappeared, causing the colt to jolt in surprise. but now he could see clearly. green was the grass that his small hooves trampled. trees were scattered and the canopy was aflame with the streaks of sun that managed to sneak through the leaves.
birds fluttered in search for food. the doe awoke and leapt through the brush. the tree creatures scurried on the limbs or flew down the trunk. the little rarity stared at the wakening world around him. his brown eyes were wide as they strained to committ the scene to memory. the warm nose of his dam made him move reluctantly forward.
his face turned to her so he could plead to stay and the sight of her with the streaks of sun dancing in her threads befuddled him. purely stunned him into silence as he studied the beauty that his mother radiated. they had to be a pretty picture. the palomino mare with the sun setting her coat into a bright gold. her nose outreached to the black colt with the honey stripes. but the picture was ended when she nosed him forward again and he forgot of her beauty and stormed forward.
a branch snapped, causing the mare to freeze but then lunge, blocking her baby from the attack that was sure to come. the lion's ribs stuck on in his dirty brown coat as he let out a hoarse scream. a fight to the death began.
she pawed at the feline whose talons were free and swiping. he managed to get her once on the shoulder but her attacks didn't end. the colt stood, filled with shock and fear. he heard his mother's angry squeal as she kicked at the young cougar who attempted to bring her down. the colt's nostrils flared as the smell of a sick liquid touched him. the life fluid dripped down the gold coat, three clear stripes on the left wither. but her could see that his mother was winning the battle.
when the cat lie on the ground, a bleeding mess of flesh and bone, the vixen hurried her son through the last strech of forest. questions bubbled in his throat but his silenced by his mother's constant urging.
as the two equines burst from the wooded area, he looked up and studied the tall mountain. the smells of his kind made him shy and back into his dam. her muzzle comforted him and she followed the mustang path, hidden to human eyes, up the side.
caves seems to be drilled into the sides and he watched as his mother hesitated as one of them. this was where she was born she thought, thinking of her little apolla. she shook her head, not ready to deal with that just yet and guided her son to where she figured the royals were at. she lifted her mug and left out her soft, lyrical song. then waited until they came.
ooc; holy crap x] that's a comeback. 817 words

Black pelt shone as he stood upon an outcropped rock. He heard a lion squeal and he reared high. His massive hooves striking at the air. He tested the air, inhaling deeply but the lion was not near so he did not bother. If it kept it's distance then he'd leave it alone. Then he caught a familiar scent that made him tremble, along with an unfamiliar scent. But he had to be dreaming.
Stop it you fool. Sunny is gone. he said bitterly to himself. But then he heard her voice and it had to be real. Without a second thought he spun and took off towards the sound. His massive hooves tore into the ground carrying him swiftly and elegantly. Neck was arched and legs were picked up high. He was a sight to behold. He had definitely grown more mature and muscular over the past year.
He neighed loudly letting Sunny know he was coming. Whether or not she wanted him, he didn't care. Well he did but as long as she was okay and happy he'd accept that. Soon he saw her and he slid to a stop grass flying. He saw her wound instantly and then a foal. The foal had to be hers. He had some of her coloring and some of her looks as well. Pain and betrayl flashed through him but he ignored that. She was alive and that was all that mattered.
Sunny! he said happily and with worry at the same time as he looked at her shoulder. He picked up a trot but stopped a few feet from her and her son so he didn't scare the foal and he wasn't sure how Sunny felt or what the situation was. He dipped his head in respect to her and to the colt. Hello little one. I am Moonlight. he said his deep voice gentle and soothing. He looked at Sunny waiting for her reaction.

they stood, waiting for her call to be answered. the colt looked up at his dam. mama. why we here? he asked curiously. the palomino smiled down at him. we're waiting for dear friends of mine. they'll give us a home she answered. her shoulder stung slightly but she ignored the pain. the mountain lion would've done worse to her babe.
does that hu- he attempted to ask but his attention was captivated by a large black stallion that was running to them. his neigh was deep but familiar, causing her heart to skip a few beats in her chest. even after this time, he was still the one she loved.
he slid to a stop, his gaze glancing to her shoulder then down to warren. for the first time, she felt ashamed. why was it that everytime he saw her, she was either pregnant or with a foal? or, hell, crying? she worked up a smiled.
his voice rang in her ears and she her eyes brightened. so at least he remembered her. she watched as the stallion brought himself closer, stopping and bowing to them. she listened as he addressed her little boy and smiled when the colt seemed to draw himself up as if to make him look like the muscled stallion.
hello, i'm warren he replied. when moonlight looked up at her, she nearly fainted. god he was perfect. hello moon she greeted softly, moving towards him to burying her head in his mane. the little colt watched with wide eyes as his mother nearly cuddled with the stallion.
his smile was full and bright though at the idea that he could have a new dad. his eyes glittered as he thought of having a male who wouldn't attack his mother.

Moon couldn't have been happier. Tears stung his eyes. She didn't seem upset with him and he couldn't believe she was standing before him. He thought he had lost her as well. But he knew deep down that no matter what he'd always love her. He looked at the young colt who tried to size himself up. He smiled and chuckled. It's a pleasure to meet you Warren. You are quite handsome I must say. You will grow to be a very handsome stallion one day. he said kindly.
When Sunny spoke his name and began to walk towards him his breathing stopped momentarily only for his heart to pound and his breathing quickened. He'd never love anyone as much as he loved her. He had loved Star but Sunny would always have his heart. He had thought he lost her forever. When she buried her face in his mane he buried his in hers. He inhaled her scent and felt the warmth of her golden pelt upon his black.
I thought I had lost you forever. When that storm hit after you left I searched everywhere for you and then came back here to help out and hoped you would come back. We must get caught up. he murmered quietly. He stepped back slightly gently massaging her neck. Then he looked at her wound. Ever so gently he licked it and looked towards the healing spring. The spring ought to do the trick as always. he said softly with a smile. Eclipse is back. We met up as we wandered. She and her daughter got lost in the storm as well. Unfortunately she and Largo's foal didn't make it.... She's also lost the lead mare position but she's staying of course. he said quickly catching her up with everything, but left Star out for the moment. No need to ruin the moment now.
Eclipse saw the reunion of the two lovers. No matter what either one of them said, those two were meant for each other. She saw Sunny's colt and smiled. A handsome one he was. Hopefully he grew up well-mannered. She stayed hidden not wanting to disrupt them. She'd meet up with Sunny and her son soon enough.

for a minute, she forgot about the triangle that had existed when she turned two. all she could think about was that she was with him now. she saw glitters in the corners of his eyes. when was the last time she cried? probably when she found out about what wrath did to her mother and apolla... her throat locked and she pulled herself from the past to focus on the present.
the large black ears swiveled to catch the stallion's chuckle. the smile on the black face made warren smile and swish the fluff he called a tail like a proud banner. thank you, sir he stated, knowing his dam would scold him if he wasn't polite. dad had it too but mom tore it off he stated casually as if it was usual to see a dam attack a sire. he trotted in a quick circle and ignored the sweet reunion of the sweethearts.
sunny smiled when moon returned her affection. when he spoke, she listened. guilt filled her. i... i came back but you weren't here so i left and... she started but glanced towards warren who was studying a wildflower with an intensity that made her smile. he massaged her neck and she sighed in pleasure, leaning into the touch. his tongue flicked over her wound and she trembled. it's nothing she brushed off the wound with a shrug.
tan ears listened as he updated her on some things. she frowned, empathizing with eclipse. she, too, had lost a daughter. well i'll have to see eclipse soon she murmured and watched as her sniffed around and headed towards a cave.
seeing it as a moment to explain, she jumped in. you'd think i'd learn. a stallion found me after i left. he said a lot of sweet things that i needed to hear and i thought he cared. we mated and my mom and apolla traveled with us. after warren was born, my mom and apolla disappeared. wrath said it was because they couldn't accept that warren was actually born she started, her throat feeling as if the cougar had raked her claws down it. he... um... killed them and when i found it, warren saw me pretty much murder wrath. my mom... apolla... she stated, her face falling on his shoulder.
i'm so sorry... she managed. warren returned and eyed mister moon with suspicion. why was his mother so distressed?

Moon heard her speak and he choked back a sob. Why must she endure so much? She deserved so much better. He did not blame her for falling for the stallion but part of him wanted to tear into the brute's throat and kill him. But he knew better. He nuzzled her softly trying to comfort her. It's not your fault Sunny. I'm not saying I approve of what he did to you but you were hurt because of me and you tried to move on. No one can blame you for that. Besides despite that you have a handsome son. he said affectionately.
He looked over at Warren. He smiled at the colt's polite words and laughed when he called him sir. You needn't call me sir, Warren. I am your mother's best friend and I don't know if she considers me the love of her life anymore but I always will consider her mine. So there's no need for sir. Just Moon or Moonlight works for me. he said and then noticed the colt eye him with suspicion. He didn't blame him for it either but he supported Sunny with gentle massages on her back and neck and occasionally licking her wound to make sure an infection didn't start up. He would go insane if something happened to her. I hadn't meant to be gone for so long. I just went to help our allies in Alingah and on the way back another herd needed help and that's when Eclipse and I got lost. There wasn't a day I didn't think about you. I fought to stay alive and to return to one day see you. I swear I'll never let anything happen to you or Warren. I'll protect you two with my life. he said earnestly.
He coughed a bit to clear his throat. There is something I must tell you and I don't know how you'll feel about this. You may feel happy or mad or anything but you have a right to know. Star is gone. She has turned Yurallan and is steadily turning Rahkai. While I was away she met Lestat and she fell for him. Now she's with him. I was upset at first but she chose her path and I mine. She turned dark and I did not. I will always be here for you. I loved her too but not in the same way that I love you. You have always had my heart. Always will. he said comfortingly.
Black legs pulled him back and he looked into her eyes waiting to see her reaction. He would stand and take a good bite and kick if she wished to do so. He wouldn't blame her or avoid it. He knew he deserved it after what he had put her through.

she kept her face buried in his black mane. why didn't she just stay and wait for him? he would've returned as soon as he could. he always did. she felt his nuzzle and her ears listened to his calming words. she smiled at his last sentence. yeah, he is pretty handsome she stated with a relieved sigh.
warren cocked his head to listen to him. love of her life? he bobbed his head, understanding, and folded his long limbs so he could take a brief nap. boy was he tired! sunny smiled up at moon. of course you still are she stated with a switch of her tail. he continued to massage her and licking her wounds. she leaned into his touch with tremors of pleasure. oh... i missed you she stated feeling like she was going to cry all over again. goodness was she glad to see him. thank you. warren needs someone to look up to... she stated, eyeing sunny with a hopeful glint.
at his cough, she pulled back and listened to his words. horror filled her of course. star? in rahkai? her eyes widened. she nearly said that they needed to go pull her out of there but it was true. she had chosen her own path. sunny sighed. of course it doesn't make me happy or mad. it's just hard to see morning star as rahkai but i guess it happened if she fell in love with him. i'm sorry she stated. she knew morning star had been his beta mare, his highest mate.
daughter of the sun knew she was moonlight's first love. they had been raised together with the older star watching. sunny believed star had been envious. here was sunny with her true love and then star was falling for moon. after sunny had bolted because of the shock of the two together, star had become beta mare. sunny had made it clear that she would not get in the way of the two second-in-commands. i love you too she said softly with a smile.

Moon shivered in delight knowing that Sunny was not furious with him. He was glad that he could be there for her and Warren. He'd always be there for her and her foal. Warren was part of Sunny. Plus one could not blame the foal for his lineage nor how he came about.
He was glad that he had grow up and matured. Sunny needed that. When she said she loved him he nuzzled her softly. Come to my cave. It's thickly bedded with some dry grass and whatnot to make it comfortable. It looks as if Warren could use some sleep. He'd be safe from anything in there. As for him having someone to look up to I'd be honored. I love you Sunny. he said nuzzling her cheek lovingly.
Black hooves moves his massive body over to Warren who was taking a small nap. He gently nudged the young'n. Hey Warren how bout you go up into my cave and lay down to sleep. It's a lot softer than the ground here and you'll be protected better from anything that may come. he said kindly.

she felt his black velvet muzzle nuzzle her and she sighed once more in pure pleasure. how great it was to be with him again. her ears caught his words and she felt delighted. he wanted to keep her. he accepted her without much thought. she nodded her head with a smile. i'd like that she stated while he nuzzled her once more. i love you as well.
she watched as he went to her child as if warren was his own. the colt stirred when moon nudged him. her leggy colt pulled himself up, stumbling slightly with dazed confusion. warren leaned on the stallion's front legs and nearly fell asleep again. rolling her eyes with a grin, she went forward and nudged his rump causing him to move wherever moon led them.

Moon smiled his heart leaping in a giddy whirl as he heard her say that she loved him. How he never tired of that. Life was perfect again. He would make sure this time he didn't lose her. With Warren here now he'd also make sure the young colt didn't get hurt or lost either. He felt oddly protective of him. He had no right to be but he was.
When Warren stumbled and began to fall asleep on his legs he gently nuzzled him. It was an odd feeling. Almost fatherly to him. It was instinctual. He laughed and smirked at Sunny. Walking close to the young colt he made sure if he fell then he'd be able to catch him or at least prevent him from hurting himself too much.
Soon they were at the cave and he nodded towards the back where to one side was a thickly bedded area and to the other was a small spring. It had healing properties but he used it mainly for drinking. You can go in there to heal your wound Sunny. he said softly.
He stood by the mouth of the cave and looked about, he still had to make sure everyone else was safe as well. Black mare walked down towards the cave. Her thick black mane with tints of red in it shining as she walked to Moon. Hello Moon. Hello Sunny. Welcome back. It's nice to see that you've returned healthy. You have a gorgeous son.she said kindly with a warm, welcoming smile.

her brown eyes watched as the black stallion stood, watching warren with amusement, as the little colt just about fell asleep against the thick legs. it didn't even cross her mind that moon might hurt warren but he would never. even though warren wasn't his, he was hers and moon would, no doubt, respect that.
warren felt the warmth of moon's breath on his velvet neck. managing to open his eyes, he stumbled, following moon closely. his mother smiled at the stallion's laughter and smirk and fell in behind the two males. entering the cave, warren stumbled until he collapsed in the thick grass. his eyes fluttered shut and he was out like a light.
sunny smiled. a colt's life is tough she joked, gesturing at the passed out brindle. she nodded her head and went to the spring. she dipped her nose in it then pressed it to her wound. that would probably be good enough. she looked down at her sweet boy and debated laying down next to him but a mare's kind voice stopped her from curling up with her precious.
eclipse! she exclaimed with a smile and trotted to the black mare. she touched her nose to her black one and flicked her tail happily. thank you she stated with a bob as she looked at her son with love. his father... made apolla... not make it. nor did my mother, i know you were friends she stated, explaining my their group was only a duo and not a quartet.

Moon laughed at Sunny's little joke. But it was true. For a young colt life was hard but not impossible. Warren would grow up intelligent like his mother of that he was sure. Plus he already had the courtesy and kind heart like she had as well. He would make a great sire one day. So long as he kept to that and didn't fall to the ways of his father. But he knew chances were unlikely. He really hoped so anyway.
Eclipse snorted and dipped her head and nuzzled Sunny in return. She was glad to see the mare back. It was nice to have another mare around that she knew wouldn't worry about her trying to get lead or not. She just wanted a mare-friend and Sunny had always been good to her. She truly did miss her. But she was also glad for Moon's sake.
She had noticed the stallion getting steadily depressed at the weeks had gone by since his return and finding her gone. When she heard about Apolla and Sunny's mother she frowned and let a few tears spill. I am deeply upset that you had to go through that. Indeed she was my friend as are you. I am just glad that you two made it safely here. You will be safe here. Especially with Moon around. I too will help keep you two safe. she said knowing that Sunny had suffered a deep and painful loss.

daughter of the sun & warrensunny sometimes had those moments where she worried that warren might turn out to be like his father. able to charm and seduce, to make lying promises, to kill. no, no. not her baby. she wouldn't allow it. he'd be raised to be a gentleman, to only make promises he knew he'd keep. hopefully moon would be able to teach him a few things, too. sunny couldn't teach him how to fight and how all that. that was what a father did and moon had already said he'd be there for warren.
so he'd be stuck with that.
she smiled when eclipse nuzzled her. after telling her about her daughter of rape and mother, eclipse frowned and shed some tears. sunny, too, felt the burn in her throat to cry but she knew that they would have only wanted her to spill a few tears. thank you sunny said softly and cocked her back hoof, hoping to relax her tense body.

Moon stayed quiet and kept in the background momentarily. Eclipse and Sunny needed some girl on girl time and he would respect that. He kept an eye out for danger while the two mares caught and did whatever they wanted.
Eclipse shifted her black bodice and looked at Sunny with concern. The mare obviously wished to cry and seemed to want to keep it hidden at how much she wanted to cry. She shook her black head the red tinted mane bobbing some. Sunny, I'm not stupid and neither is Moon. Crying because of your loss and what you've been through is not weakness nor does it bother us. Holding it in does not help heal one's wounds. I know personally. I lost my daughter.... in the snowstorm. Hiding your pain only makes you sick in the end. Do not fret about crying. It helps to let the pain out.
Her voice was soothing and sympathetic but she knew that Sunny needed to hear that. Sunny had always been one to hide her feelings and it would hurt her in the end. She needed to let her feelings out. Eclipse waited for Sunny's response but was prepared to support the golden mare any way possible.
