Fury galloped into the battleground. Only a few short months ago he was here before. Only last time he was the challenger to win a beautiful golden mare. This time he was challenged for the land he just claimed. His harem was waiting for him so he needed this to be a quick fight. Mist was carrying their child, his child, their heir and she would be due very soon. The slave of his he didn't care much about but she was fun to torment.
The stallion that had challenged him seemed arrogant and too bold. Fury had learned his lesson last time that being arrogant did not help matters. He could thank Arrakis for that lesson. Sweat had dried on his pelt and he had ran through some water to wash the sweat off. Now his handsome pelt glistened again with health and youth. Muscles were well defined on his powerful body. Now he waited for the brute. Maybe he wouldn't show his face. That would be hilarious to Fury and he chuckled at the thought. This time he stood quietly instead of prancing about saving his energy for the fight. He wouldn't waste his energy this time showing off. No, showing off was not needed and he would be smart about it. The good thing was that he arrived before the arrogant snob so he would have more rest because he would tear into the mutt the minute he stepped on the battleground.

Blade trotted slowly to the battlegrounds, following the crazy brute's scent. He chuckled to himself at how the stallion had galloped over here. Oh dumb colt, galloping here is just going to waste your energy. Granted, Blade was taking his time getting there, but he'd still be a bit warn down galloping over there like that. The buckskin paint stopped for some water on his way, taking down small sips of water as to not sour his stomach. He finished and licked his lips, then continued his journey.
The scent of the stallion's path was still there and Blade had successfully made it to the battlegrounds. He whinnied loudly, flicking his tail as he slowed to a walk. His ears stood erect and his eyes scanned the area, watching out for the stallion. Ah, there you are, brute. He was standing around, waiting for Blade, who stopped and smirked at him. Blade nodded and walked towards the stallion, then stopped right before him. "Why the hurry, stallion? You've wasted tons of your energy galloping over here."
Blade bent his head down and scratched his cheek against his knee, then brought it back up and met with the brute's eyes. His eyes bore into the dun horse's. He knew that the stallion was ready for him, and Blade was ready for him, too. Blade threw his neck up and backed up, his tail raised. He reared up and slammed down, snorting. "Let's do this," he hissed, glowering at the stallion.

A D O N I
The summer had been pleasant so far, with no battles that had needed his attention or judgement - which had allowed for Adoni to spend his days in a lazy bliss, hiding away in his secret meadow spending time doing nothing but what he wanted. However, that blissful peace was about to get broken.. along with some bones no doubt. The delicate golden stallion paced along the ridge of the battlefield, pausing as he reached his usual viewing plateau. His eyes showed surprise at seeing Red Fury so soon after the last battle, the stallion had healed quickly - no doubt his youth helped with that. Adoni gave a slight shake of his beautiful head, turning to the challenger and giving a wry smile.. it looked as if this would be a close match, a good one to start of the season perhaps. And with that thought Adoni projected his voice, calling:
"You may begin."

Fury could tell that the stallion was going to taunt him. But that was fine. He'd show him. You think I wasted my energy. But I know the land and how the weather is. I'm stronger than I appear and my energy level is not what you think. he hissed angrily.
Looking up he saw Adoni and nodded to the stallion when he said they could begin. At last he could take this fool down! The minute Adoni quit speaking Fury charged. His muscles rippled and power surged through him as he ran straight towards the pathetic brute before him. Seconds before he hit the buckskin paint the dun roan stud turned and kicked sideways at the side while also twisting his neck gracefully towards the throat of his opponent. He wouldn't kill but he'd definitely do his best to take a few chunks out before he was done. With luck his well aimed kick would shatter a few ribs.

Blade snorted at the stallion's comment. Ha, he thinks he's the shit. Well, he'll see what's in store for him now. This colt probably has only been in a few fights, but Blade has been in several, and has the scars to prove it. He struck his chest out and lifted his head high, proud of his age and his wisdom. Ah yes, that land will be his soon and he'll run it like a champ. A few mares here and there, even though they weren't has favorite pick, but how else would he get some foals on the ground? He knew he'd make some awesome babies, colts who would grow up to kick butt like their father.
Blade smirked to himself, looking forward to this victory. Then the scent of another drifted into the land, and Blade turned his head towards the smell. There was another horse there, standing on a ridge, looking at them. He wondered who it was, and why he was here. He flicked his tail angrily, hoping this stallion wouldn't interfere with his business. He opened his mouth to call out to the stallion, but the stranger beat him to it. "You may begin," was all he had said, and it occurred to Blade that he was just the battle master of some sort. Blade settled down and returned his angry glare to the dun roan before him.
The stallion charged forward, his hooves clamoring on the rocky grass below them. Blade leaped to the side, half rearing into the air, just before the brute turned to kick him. Blade snorted, ears pinned to his skin and nostrils flared. He glared down at the stallion, who somehow snaked his head around to take a chunk out of what Blade was assuming would be his throat. But he was too high for that, and the stallion clamped down on his lower neck. Blade hissed and pushed his fore legs out, aiming for the stallion's barrel. He hoped the pound would send the stallion down to the ground, seeing as he was twisted and in the air like Blade himself.

Fury noticed the stallion looking in Adoni's direction and giving him an evil glare. He snorted, the stallion must really be new to this whole fighting thing because he obviously didn't know how it worked here. Arrogance was written all over the stallion's face and the way he was showing off and puffing his chest out was childish. That meant nothing and neither did scars. Fury once had scars but he learned a trick thanks to his new lead mare.
Arrakis had really shown the young stallion how to be more mature and realize that showing off really did not get you anywhere. It was how one led the herd and defended it that counted. Fury knew that he'd be great one day once he found some land to call his own and added more mares to his harem. This stallion thought he was better because he was older and had scars from fights. Well Fury would keep his head this time and not waste energy like he did before.
Unfortunately his well aimed kick was dodged by the stag but when he lunged for the neck he was glad he got the lower part at least. He clung to the stallion's throat as tight as possible and pulled backwards. He hoped he'd rip the flesh off. Fury felt the stallion go up in the air and he let go knowing that he'd be hit by the hooves if he didn't. However, Fury didn't dodge the attack. Instead he chose to stay under the stallion crouch down quickly and spring up with every bit of power he had and aimed at the stallion's barrel to knock the wind out of the stud and possibly hurt a few organs if he could.
The brute's hooves clipped his shoulder in the process slicing it open and cut deep into the flesh. Fury felt the pain but ignored it. Blood trailed down his shoulder steadily as if it were a stream. You're going to pay for that! he snarled with rage. There was no way he was going to lose to this stallion and not get land for his mares and unborn foal.

Blade's neck ached from the deep bite that the stallion made. He could feel the warmth running down his chest. It wasn't a foreign feeling, though, and he ignored it. He could tend to his wounds later on his new land. If he wasn't so caught up in the moment, he would have smirked and chuckled to himself, but he felt the pressure of his hooves slicing into the stallion's shoulder. Blade's body was coming down to the ground as gravity was pulling him down, but the stallion beneath him somehow sprung up and kicked Blade in the gut. Blade's eyes shot closed and he coughed up blood. He felt a little trickle down his chin and his eyes opened and were full of rage. He was pushed back from the hard kick and was now standing on the ground, breathing heavily. His legs were sore and his neck was still bleeding, and there was dried blood on his lips. He held his breath for a moment as he charged towards the dun brute and reared up, kicking his legs out at the stallion's face.

Fury was thriving in the pain and heat. He had grown used to it from his last fight and searching the desert for anyone who claimed the land before he did. Sweat mixed with blood and the blood was starting to coagulate into a sticky gooey glob around the edges while the deeper part of the tissue squirted blood continuously as he moved his shoulder each time and his heart pumped blood through the veins.
It seemed as if the ground absorbed the blood thirstily since it hadn't had much blood in a while. Smirking Fury was thrilled to feel the stallion take the blow from him and coughed up blood. Yes, the stud knew how to fight and not give up, Fury would give him that much. The brute was furious with having been knocked about and having the wind knocked out of him. The dun roan noticed him rearing to charge. Rearing himself he bolted straight at the stag and reared up kicking out and hoping to hit the brute's legs and cut them up. Settling down on the ground he spun and kicked at the stomach hoping the heat would slow the stallion down. Fury felt hooves slice open his neck and chest as he reared. Luckily the stallion missed his head since he was tall and reared higher.

Was it really that hot? Blade hadn't noticed, being too caught up in the battle. His mind was focused only on the brute he was attacking, not on anything else. He licked his lips and tasted the metallic taste of blood. An evil grin spread across his lips as he kicked his legs out, slicing the stallion's chest and neck. He saw blood sprout from the fresh wounds and could now smell it in the air. Surely there will be vultures around later to see if there were any scraps, and if there were, it wouldn't be Blade.
The stallion snorted when the dun horse reared up and tore at his legs. The skin scraped a bit, but it was nothing drastic. There were blood drops forming at the break, then a little trickle here and there. Blade's ears were still pinned to his neck, and his eyes were wide. There was sweat built up on his neck, shoulders, and barrel. Maybe it was hot, or he was just getting a workout from kicking this horse's ass. The horse below him bucked up and kicked out at Blade's stomach again. He felt the pain of the hooves hit nearly in the same spot. He grunted, but went on. His body was parallel to the dun's, and he arched his neck down and bared his teeth, aiming his sharp bite at the horse's knee, hoping to buckle his legs down in the front.

Fury was thriving despite the pain that he was going through. The heat was slowing him down steadily not to mention he was getting tired. But his stamina and endurance were staying true. He had trained well and was fit for this battle. Sweat mingled with blood causing his wounds to sting. If he won this fight not only would he win the land but he would also be able to welcome his son or daughter into the world by morning with luck. The stallion would not back down no matter how severe the pain or wounds. He would follow through to give his beloved mare what she needed to survive and provide for their heir.
Smirking, the stag was pleased to see he hit the mutt again in the barrel. Then he got serious again. Pinning his ears he moved back to prepare for his final attack. As he did so the mongrel lashed at his knee with teeth barred. Fury thought quickly, if he used his dodge now then the mutt’s next attack might be worse. If he didn’t he’d be in trouble. Knowing that dodging was too risky he took the attack and back up as he felt bone and tissue being damaged and torn away as he pulled back. The healing mud at Faramir’s would help to an extent but he’d be hurting for a good while. Luckily he healed fast.
Enraged at being so hurt he kept his leg up so as to keep from losing blood faster since he had a good distance ahead of him. Fury stumbled and fell on his knees but quickly got up hobbling on three legs. Rearing as high as he would go he aimed at the stallion’s back hoping to land a devastating blow and bring him down once and for all. He might be in pain, tired, and severely injured, but Fury was one that wouldn’t give up. Especially when so much was at stake.

Tomorrow would be hell. The desert, the land he claimed, would be hot and dry. There would be very little shade. Ugh, Blade thought for a moment as he realized he would be sore the next day. But, he would be all alone in his new land. Little images faded in and out of his mind, images of him courting mares that he wasn't too fond of, watching over the herd he would soon have, and fighting off the bad guys of course. He couldn't wait. He'd make one awesome leader again, oh yeah.
But, he had to worry about what was going on at this moment. There was a dun brute next to him fighting just as hard as Blade was. Both the stallions were covered in blood and sweat, and Blade had dust and grass blades all over his wet spots of fur. The adrenaline was flowing through his veins, but he knew the fight would soon be over after this last attack. Neither of the horses would be able to take any more fighting, but then the battle master, or whatever he was called, would judge them and lay out the results. The thought excited him and pushed him to the top.
The roan horse crashed into the mud, just as Blade had planned it to happen. He knew some damage had been done, but it wasn't bad enough to kill the horse. The stallion flew back up on three legs, then reared up and lashed out at Blade, who threw his head up and backed up. Not a good idea. Blade was kicked in the face pretty hard. There was a dusty hoof print on the bridge of his face, and a huge open gash had been planted there. The stallion spit out a string of obscenities as he glared at the roan horse who stood before him.
Blood trickled down his nose and around his mouth, but this would be the last move. Blade charged forward, swung around, and kicked hard at the stallion's shoulder. He hoped to hear that familiar thud, maybe even make the stallion sore for a good week, or cut open his shoulder. If that kick was as good as Blade hoped, the stallion may not be able to put pressure on that leg for a few hours.
ooc: added a little drawing of Blade. Not the best, but I wanted to draw him. ^^

That stallion was caked with dust that was flying up. The gritty texture made him itch all over and it hurt as it rubbed his wounds raw. This stallion was an excellent fighter and knew how to cause pain and inflict serious damage. Fury was glad to have fought a worthy opponent and could say he earned his wounds with honor.
He laughed heartily when he saw the stallion back up making a stupid move. Sure enough the stag earned a nice crack in the head. That would leave a mark for a while. Feeling his hoof dig into bone and flesh made Fury feel victorious for regaining at least a little dignity back while also causing severe pain to the brave yet foolish stallion. He might've been older but he didn't seem wise in Fury's opinion.
He knew that the stallion would get him back for that and sure enough the stallion went at him. Fury was glad that he saved his dodge because although he had a hard time using his leg he would've been crippled pretty badly for some time. Waiting until the right time Fury stood still bracing himself and then right before the stud's hooves made contact with his shoulder of his wounded leg he sprung sideways. Only a small scratch was received. Fury was victorious in dodging and he smirked and stood a good two feet away with only a small cut to show for it. He kept weight off his left leg but kept the hoof on the ground. The fight was over, it was Adoni's turn to judge the fight and let them know who was the overall victor for the land.
Hopefully Adoni would make his judgement quickly because he was not going to miss his foal's birth. He might not be known for his compassion but he would be sure that both his mare and foal would survive and be well protected. A thought popped into Fury's head but he would save that for later. Now he stood proudly arching his neck and breathing heavily. The fight had been intense and evenly matched. Now there was only the waiting game and he wasn't known for patience but in this case it was needed.

A D O N I
The slender stallions keen eyes saw, as they always did, the final blow. "Halt." His voice, as always, was as neutral as his job required him to be - his face impassive and calm. The stallions blew noisily beneath his ridge, both bloodied and dusty. "The fight went as such:"

Great length, obviously had a lot of muse for this fight Crazy! I like how you incorporated more than just the fight and Fury into it, you pulled in the weather and his previous fights and what the effect of this fight would have on Fury. Well done!

Graded Posts: 9/10 Excellent writing. Great length, beautiful posting table, lovely expression! Am I right in assuming Blade is a past character you've had on a different site? He is very well developed and his personality isn't flopping everywhere like most new characters. If only he had more relationships on the site! Interacting with other characters helps to take the focus away from yours, but other than that, beautiful.

The dun roan heard Adoni's words and stood waiting his breath steadily evening out. So much rested on this fight. It was different last time. His previous fight he was a cocky little brat that didn't know much but he had learned much from it and grew up. Hearing Adoni's judgement he nodded his head and bowed to the golden stallion. He had won. The blood, sweat, and pain paid off in the end after all.
He looked over to the stallion he fought. You fought well. I admire you for your skills and spirit. I have a proposition for you. I will track you down after I make sure that my mares are safe and my heir born and well hidden. I never did ask of your calling. You already know mine. he said waiting for the stallion to answer him. He would keep the conversation short but he needed fighters and he'd be an excellent fighter. He didn't get along well with other stallions but as long as he kept to himself and didn't bother his mares and foals there'd be no problems and the stallion would have land and he could even own a few mares himself if he wished.

Blade's sides ached with every breath he took, and boy was he breathing hard. He was super exhausted now that their fight was over. All he wanted to do was go lay down, cleanse his wounds, and just rest. His head hung low as he tried to catch his breath and hope his heart rate would slow down. His heavy breathing blew the dust on the ground. Blade's nostrils were wide, pink, and bloody. His head swung up when the stallion, the battle master, spoke up, laying out the results.
Blade's heart sunk. He lost. His eyes flickered to the right, ears bent backward. He cursed under his breath, then turned back to the dun stallion. Blade kept his sadness hidden and still had the look of anger plastered on his face. The dun looked over to Blade and spoke to him. Blade nodded when he finished, bowing his head. "Good job, stallion. This was a good fight. Congratulations on winning and keeping your land. Oh, and my name is Blade." Blade turned to limp off, but the stallion offered to track him down, to maybe join the herd?
He turned back around, spinning on his hindquarters, one ear cocked in the direction of the dun horse. "What would you want with me?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. Blade weighed his options: he could go with the dun stallion and stay in his herd, not knowing if he'd have a good life with other horses or not, or he could venture out on his own and try and make a living out there. Either way, he was kind of at loss. Well, I could always leave, right..? he questioned, cocking his head and looking to the sky. Hm.
ooc: Thanks, Ranger and Crazy! Baha, I actually just created Blade for this site. He's a brand new pony. :3
